THE DUKE OF GLOUCESTER PROJECT
The Duke of Gloucester will be used as both a train memorabilia museum and a tea rooms for the Grampian Model Roilroaders.
The club wishes to relcccte the carriage on to a new siding track
adjacent to its clubrooms at the Stawell Railway Goods Shed.
Once renovated it will be open to the public on club days, special events and for private bookings such as birthday parties
The DUKE Project will generate club funds for the club whilst complementing the larger train memorabilia Items such as signals, level crossing lights and model layouts located within the clubrooms. It will hopefully be the first of other carriages to be relocated.
Whilst tourism is a vital port of the Grampians Region, there are very few venues in Stawell where touristan spend time and be entertained on rainy or sunny days. Grampian Model Roilrooders Inc envisage to open their club rooms at the Stawell Goods Shed to the generol public on a regular basis including proposed market days.
With working fine scale model train layouts, plus railroad history model railroad resource material and memorabilia on display, the inclusion of the Duke of Gloucester will provide a unique tourism option to experience a slice of Victorian Railway history history whilst also offering light refreshments .
We put out project up for voting on the Start Governments Pick My Project initiative in 2018 but was unsuccessful against the hundreds of projects across the state.
You can download the project brief below. We are still wanting to get funding for the project in the future through either private philanthropists, corporate sponsorship or a tourism based government grant.
If you know anyone, corporation or government department that has $80,000 to invest in a great project, contact us
